Going on assignment for Lancaster Newspaper + Lancaster Online is something completely different than I’ve done in my career so far. Last night I covered the Elizabethtown Area School District Prom in the Grand Lodge Hall at the Masonic Villages. Weather was less than ideal, so the kids stayed mostly inside after walking up to the entrance.
Why do I say this is different? You’ve got to quickly HUSTLE to make sure you get the images needed for the assignment. Or at least at this particular event I had too lol. As a giant introvert, having to just walk up to people and ask if you can take their image for the paper is HARD! Some weeks it’s less hard, but this was not one of them. And then you’ve got to turn those images around in less than two hours. Goal was 20 different images, and they were processed and back to the paper in less than an hour and a half. Success!
I feel very grateful because everyone I approached and photographed was incredibly polite and nice!!! Here are just a couple of images from the night, and a link to full prom gallery over on LNP!
